'The matrix Ressurections'

DP John Toll: "Early on, we decided to shoot with spherical lenses in the tradition of the original trilogy, but also shoot widescreen. I've never been a fan of an anamorphic, wide-aperture, shallow-depth look. I found the idea of shooting 2.39 widescreen with spherical lenses more appropriate for this film."

LENSES

Panavision Primo 70
Specifically designed for large-format digital cameras, the Primo 70 lenses feature internal motors and full lens metadata capabilities. Floating internal elements control breathing and allow the lens to maintain extremely high performance from infinity to close focus. While the Primo 70s are undeniably sharp, the falloff from focus is gentle, smooth, and organic.
Very little color fringing, coma tails, or distortion. The clean image allows cinematographers to dig into the shadows and pick up details that might be lost in other lenses’ aberrations. Compatible with digital cameras equipped with the Panavision 70 mount system.

Panavision Panaspeed
The Panaspeed lens series is a high speed, large-format companion to the Primo-L series of optics. Sharing many of the same traits – such as excellent veiling glare resistance, a blend of technical aberration correction, and the introduction of artistic nuances in the form of select aberration inclusion – the Panaspeeds also incorporate improved features including no blue line, better close focus, anti-breathing control, faster aperture, and greater field illumination. At T/1.4, these lenses are the fastest optics available for large-format cinematography. Panaspeeds are compatible with film and digital 35mm and full-frame cameras equipped with SP70 mounts.
